NEWS

June 20, 2001 - PCW
How exciting - we've got a mention in the July Editorial of Personal Computer World!!!! Read what the blokey has to say here. And no, I don't know how the July edition came out at the end of May. It's all a mystery. Perhaps PCW has mastered time travel......

And it's looking promising for getting on TV later in the year. Takeover TV which is shown on E4 (part of Channel 4) wants to show an edited version of The Polos of Death. Which is nice.

May 12, 2001 -Update
Well, here it is. The long awaited update. We have the photos of the premiere night (when we knocked the competition away and stormed off with 1st prize), and also some more "Making Of" photos. Don't say we don't spoil you.

April 24, 2001 -Update
Major update coming in the next week or so. We haven't been doing nothing all this time you know:

The video has been around at least 11 different countries (bet you can't name more than 11 countries anyway), so it's now a global phenomenonenon. Which is nice.

  • We were Channel 4's 4Later weird website of the week
  • London Talk radio want to do an interview with us on a computer show
  • Plus, more competitions to enter! (and maybe win)

The T-shirts are almost printed, so if you order one now, you won't have to wait long (hint, hint).

March 6, 2001 - Problems
Due to technical problems, the website has been temporarily offline. Though some of you still managed to download the compressed videos. Well done. I guess that shows initiative or hacking ability or something.

March 5, 2001 - The Results
OH MY GOD. WE WON!!!
Who'd have thought it. We could never have expected the response we got to the animation. We thought it was quite good, but I guess we were too closely involved to realise that it could actually win (all that stuff below is just wishfull thinking, but who knows - it could all become real one day.....maybe).

We should of course thank the competition, who did fantastic jobs on their films too. Second Chance, by Jeff Foster, and Hold for Three rightly deserved to win their awards. It's a shame that Memory Cafe didn't walk away with anything, but then they've won loads of other stuff, so no need to feel sorry for them really.

Thanks to everyone who supported us, and put up with Ivan and myself being so secretive and for vanishing at every given opportunity to work on the animation.

(Oh dear. This seems to have become a thanking speech. I promised myself I'd never become a thanker).

March 5, 2001 - Website comes online
Hello and welcome to the brand-spanking new website devoted to the masterpiece that is The Polos of Death.

This short animation, first shown in the Wolfson theatre, Churchill College was originally just a bit of a laugh. However, it was destined to become a huge success, reaping in millions worldwide, and allowing the two creators to retire to luxury penthouses in the caribbean.

The result is incredible, considering it was just two guys having fun in a bedroom (with their clothes on). You'll wonder how you ever got by without it.

Download Internet Explorer Now! What's that you say? Yes, I know using Microsoft is akin to selling your soul to Satan, but it really is the only thing to do. You can't seriously recommend using Netscape? Oh, if you must then. Netscape? Well, if you must

Er...I should probably say something about that whole copyright thing. I don't much go in for it, but don't go copying whole chunks of my site - do try to be original. Sorry if you own any stuff on my pages. I probably should have asked first.

If you can read this, you're too close.
